RE bigotry: The whole of Amestris is full of bigotry. Look at the military: Count the number of women you see. Now count all the female alchemists, military or no. Count the number of female alchemists that have any kind of power. (One: and that leads into my argument that Dante was originally male.) Also note the public opinion towards Ishbal and Lior: "They look funny, make them go away." General opinion of chimeras seems to be that they are dangerous creatures, although I'm not 100% on that. I suspect that Kimbley is not unusual in his views - he just represents the everyman, rather than the usual cast we see: the Elrics are idealistic and young (and Ed is blind to a remarkable amount of human nature), most of the military doesn't care as long as you bow down before it, and the non-military are either busy running from whatever havoc is currently unleashed or aren't put in a situation that would illustrate their views on the matter.
I really want to know about Kimbley's dominant/submissive act... Rargh.
