swordage: Obama HOPE poster style of Optimus Prime reading "CHANGE into a truck." (tf CHANGE INTO A TRUCK)
[personal profile] swordage
My friends, I have made a dreadful mistake. In my initial rush through Delicious, I ignored many stories that 1) did not involve Starscream and 2) were hosted on ff.net. THIS WAS A TERRIBLE MISTAKE. I have since realized that Transformers, until very recently, was a small, old fandom and thus was not primarily centered around Livejournal (as my usual fandoms are). I deeply apologize for depriving you of some very excellent recs. To make amends, I present YET MORE TRANSFORMERS RECS. And later, there will be yet more recs! I am not done finding stories. Oh, not by a long shot.

Lost in Transmission by Koi Lungfish is INTENSE. I love everything about it - I really cannot even - okay let me fall back on the old standard of quoting: (M one nine to V one,) Skywarp called softly, voice inflectionless in automatic report, (Position two three five by one three seven by forty-three. Zero zero, weather to follow.) All clear, sensor readings transmitted in a quick flicker of code. Soundwave dumped the data to his workstation and let the base computer add it its model of Earth's resources and weather-systems. Read this. Seriously. READ IT. I think I cried. I may have just stared blankly in horror instead. And then cried. This is probably my favorite story ever.

Means of Persuasion by Merytneith is almost 77,000 words of sheer awesome. It's a story about Cybertron, and about people, and about Prowl, and about friends and war and horror and strength. It is the epic Transformers fic I've been waiting to find. Hang in there - it might be a little slow to start. War, death, destruction, torture, mutilation, self-mutilation... okay it really is not as bad as the warnings make it sound.

Staying Alive: A HowTo by The Starhorse is HYSTERICAL and delightfully realistic and ahaha, oh god, HE STABBED OPTIMUS IN THE BACK. BY ACCIDENT. AND OPTIMUS FLOPPED LIKE A FISH. I want to read this over and over until my face hurts from grinning and giggling. I love every word of it. Violence, violence-made-funny.

CSI: Ark by MoonMadKitty is ridiculously fun! It's a very simple premise (Prowl thinks CSI is ridiculous and unrealistic, Jazz does not, Murder Mystery Theatre ensues which involves basically the entire cast in hilarious and unexpected ways) and it is done extremely well - I love that feeling of the chase throughout the story, that KNOWING who did it and just needing that last bit of evidence to prove it... And of course, the strange twists when Prowl's not the one calling the shots anymore. This was the most fun I've had in a while. No warnings!

Indefinite Objects by Dwimordene is... intense. It made my brain hurt. Basically: if the Cybertronian language is entirely logical, how do you know they're alive? Any machine can be logical. Brain-hurting academia owwww

Requiem by Vaeru has such a strong Jazz voice without relying on stereotypes - I love it. The ending was a punch in the best of ways. Short and bitter. Torture, sensory deprivation.

Belonging by Lyricality has convinced me I need to watch the Animated series. This is not an Optimus Prime I'm used to, and I can't speak to how in-character everyone is, but the development throughout makes me think they must be spot-on, because this is an author who knows what they're doing. I've never seen Optimus/Megatron bonding done this realistically. This is what love/hate really means, I think. (Hit the Next Entry buttons to get to the rest, there's no convenient way of linking all the chapters.) Megatron/Optimus Prime porn

Rain Over Blue Water by The Starhorse makes my heart hurt a little. Grinning and bearing it is like that. It doesn't help to know that you're the only one that can do it; it still hurts. Oh Sideswipe. I want to snuggle him and rub him down with towels. No warnings, I think.

Kick in the Head by [livejournal.com profile] saesama is exactly what I've wanted to cure all of that Barricade-is-really-Prowl stuff. Prowl took the ramp to get on 80, sirens screaming a warning, and as he approached a hundred and fifty MPH, he instinctively sent out a signal on a frequency he hadn't used in megavorns; the long-dead Lawkeepers band. /Prowl in pursuit, perpetrators must not escape/

Lambo Sammich by [livejournal.com profile] rayvnfyre is, sadly, locked to [livejournal.com profile] mecha_erotica members. But it is tasty-delicious canyon-racing porn! I adore the twins in this, that vicious teasing delight that's so THEM. Poooorn.
