I don't think I've ever done a 100-word drabble before. P.S. This is terrible, I'm just trying to encourage myself to write something more substantial for Transformers. Or to write at all, really.

There is more than one kind of duty. Duty is born of need, of necessity, of cold facts. Duty is born of requirement. Duty is born of love. Duty may be obvious; a soldier fights for duty. But there are other duties no less meaningful, no less important. The duty of the healer. Of a friend. Of a spy. Fulfilling duty may be painful, may be agonizing, may be the most wretched hopeless act - or it may be joy and love and light.

So when Shockwave says simply it is my duty, Lord Megatron, only Soundwave knows his meaning.

Have just read Spotlight: Shockwave, so I'm kind of in love with Shockwave right now) It's so much in character it makes me smile, because he is really all about duty and loyalty, but nobody knows what happens in his head. Thank you, these were the best 100 words of this weekend)

Thank you so much for your kind words! I spent a lot of time thinking about duty, and this just kind of happened. I feel a little strange about it though, because really it could just as easily be about Optimus, Prowl, and (I don't know, the 'bot of your choice) as about Megatron, Shockwave, and Soundwave. But I do think it fits best with Shockwave, and I'd love to explore more of his character in the future. :)

You may translate it! I'm so thrilled just to be asked! I'd like to know where it would be reposted, or would this be for private use? And may I post your translation here as well?

I think it fits Sockwave best because he is unnaturally loyal without getting anything in return. I mean, even Soundwave gets power even though he doesn't demonstrate it. It would have been normal for an Autobot, they do have their own private motives, but they are supposed to be unselfish, so that's OK with them. But it's most unusual for a Decepticon. I suppose, even Megatron isn't sure why Shockwave is so stubbornly loyal)

Very true... I guess there's a reason Shockwave was the first one I thought of. :) He does get a certain amount of power from being in charge of Cybertron so long, I think - but I'm not sure he really enjoys it as much as he considers it necessary to serve Megatron. His depth of loyalty certainly is strange. It intrigues me! :) I need to learn more about him so I can write him better...

About the translation - I totally understand having to change the title. Meaning is more important than just copying the words over. :) Thank you again, so much! I'm so honored and excited! Would you like me to link to one of your accounts other than hare_hag?
