I really love Prime in this, too. Uncompromising in his morals at the strangest times, so dignified and weary and strong. Mmm. Ratchet is a great big softy. He's kind of a mishmash of every Ratchet I know of here, stern and caring and comforting all at once, but I think he works out alright.
The bit with the face-touching turning to claws may be my absolute favorite part. And Skyfire just takes it, because he's a kicked puppy. *hugs him*
Alright, this is just what was in my head when I wrote it, and every reader will probably see something different - and that is fine, that is wonderful, I love seeing all the ways a thing can be interpreted. But what I was thinking here is that Skywarp and Thundercracker and Starscream were all together before the war, perhaps only as a loose group but perhaps close-knit; when Starscream was damaged, he stopped being able to use the trine bond (I told you this was an indulgent fic) and they didn't quite realize the extent of his damage - due to the nature of it, it built up gradually. So they thought he was being cold, and as his demeanor changed and he became more and more obsessed with Megatron they thought that was proof enough that he didn't care much for his trine anymore. In the part of this where he's waking up, he pings all his connections to check them - and that included the trine bond. They're smart enough to figure it out from there (and boy, did they raise unholy havoc on their way out of the base to skydance!). The other Seekers joining in is part of their culture (in my imagination |D disclaimer!) as a show of support for the newly-bonded trine. Also just for the fun of it. :D Skyfire did know the whole trine before his crash, and he spent some time in their culture but isn't really any kind of Seeker, which is why he kiiiind of knows the songs. He's mauling them atrociously, of course, but he's trying. As for the other Decepticons - they want to know what the hell happened with the Autobots! Starscream won't tell, he just focuses on playing it down so he can catch Megatron off-guard. OHOHOHO. There's more about the interactions within the trine, but that's a whole other fic.
