That detail actually bothered me for a while - I had a hard time deciding what element it would inhibit, since most of his transmutations are fairly similar in chemical composition (or so I gathered from the available materials he alters to create the explosions) and I didn't want to name an element that would be common in those reactions, since it's demonstrated that he's quite adept at those - anyway, I finally settled on nitrogen after a good bit of deliberation which I cannot recall at the moment. I think I determined that the catalytic gas he normally uses is oxygen, and that nitrogen is secondary to most of his reactions but still a useful explosive that he would be put out about not having at his disposal.
