Transformers fic recs

The Transformers movie was excellent. I am questioning my sexuality because of Megatron's exceeding hotness. BUT WHY DOES MEGATRON HAVE A PENIS. Please tell me that's photoshopped. Please. Also why is he now a tank instead of a plane. The plane was hot.

And now the recs! Recs may be G1 or movie or both or something, I don't discriminate against canons. On the plus side, I'll give some warnings this time since I understand not everyone likes romance in their giant alien robots.

Conceptions of the Self by meicailya is delightfully self-indulgent in the most elaborately thought-out way possible. I adore this story. I love her grasp of exactly what it means to be an alien metal lifeform, from senses to lifespan to the sense of the spaciousness of the galaxy that humans mostly lack. (When you don't need to breathe, an atmosphere is not necessary to support you. Think about that.) The story itself is simple, but the characters are all spot-on and cleverly done. Focuses on the Autobots, but doesn't blind itself to the Decepticons. I love the politics going on behind the scenes. I basically love EVERYTHING about this story. WIP, gently implied pre-slash for Sam/Bumblebee, potentially disturbing body-horror.

Let The Good Times Roll by blue_soaring is HOT. Hot hot hot. Sam/Bumblebee. Hot. Yes. Car wash. Hot. Yesssss. porn. porn porn porn porn porn. Sam/Bumblebee.

My Madness, My Saving Sanity by NightElfCrawler is also an unexpected gem. First person is hard to pull off but oh, she does it in spades. First person Starscream is harder. First person Starscream being competent and slightly sane and a mix of scientist and soldier and commander is EVEN HARDER but oh man she does it. I really love the premise here: Starscream is torn to pieces by Megatron, manages to just barely survive, and ends up in Autobot hands pretending to be a defector, aided only by his disfigurement. Very enjoyable read. Some violence/torture/death.

A Wing And A Prayer by childofatlantis is so fun~! This was basically the first spectacular TF fic I read, and I immediately had to re-read it several times. It's got Skyfire and Aerialbots (HOW ARE THEY SO AWESOME) and some Starscream and ahhhh I love it! It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. WIP, Skyfire/Silverwing slowly developing~!

Subtle Poisons by childofatlantis is delightful, undiluted Starscream/Megatron. It's perfect, their voices and the powerplay and... yessss. Her summary: "It would have been less humiliating if Starscream had used force." Starscream/Megatron porn.

More Than Just A Passing Glance by childofatlantis is strongest in the first part, I think. It's very simple, really: Inferno is stuck in a burning building, and the voice on the radio won't give up. I love how this is written, the resignation and acceptance, the shock and pain - yeah. It's good.

The Persistence of Lechery by apathocles is ridiculously great: essentially, it's the wooing of Thundercracker. Which Starscream basically does by being AWESOME. Also I love the idea of a Skywarp-and-Thundercracker package. awww flirting evil robots~

Pieces of the Dead by hradzka is so awesome I will give you a quote:
"Say, 'Ba-weep-gra-na-weep-ninny-bong.' "
"What?"
"It's the universal greeting. 'Ba-weep-gra-na-weep-ninny-bong.' "
"...Optimus, are you shitting me?"
"No."
"You're shitting me! I know when somebody's shitting me, and you're shitting me!"
"I am not shitting you."
"Ba-weep-gra-na-weep-ninny-bong? What the hell does that even mean?"
Optimus didn't say anything.
"If you're shitting me, I am totally going to get you some naked chick mudflaps. And I'll make you wear 'em. In public."

The Things That Are Worth It by Kyra Neko-Rei is delightful. Megatron chooses his new Air Commander - and of course we know who that is. Delightful powerplay. Starscream twisted in his grip and braced one foot against the floor, preventing the action, and then he twisted the other way and sank needle-sharp teeth into Megatron's jaw, growling and snarling happily all the while. Megatron was surprised to find himself laughing out loud.

Concerning Flight by Kyra Neko-Rei is also awesome Starscream and Megatron interaction. In the '07 movie, Megatron was a plane. Starscream teaches him to fly, in a most delightful Starscream-ish way.

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know where I can find more Transformers fic! I've been through all of Springkink and a lot of The Cybertronian, but that's about it. (Especially if you know where to find more stuff by apathocles, omg.)

You were right, though! Porn IS for people with brains! Therefore it is not for me. XD But I also remembered to add two other Starscream/Megatron fics that were passably good, so you get more for your money~! I should get into other characters more, I skipped a lot of fic because the pairing made me go BWUH? I have not actually seen any canon other than the new movies so... yeah.

...I am still waiting for someone to pounce on that one part in Revenge of the Fallen where Megatron is like SAM, YOU CAN BE MY PET. YESSSSS. and then he mind-raped Sam and I fell in love.

I. I really wanted to do something with that. I mean, first Megatron is all, "You can be my pet," and then he's all, "Your soft flesh feels so good to grab," or something, and COME ON. I either suffer brainbreak from the sudden image of Sam at Megatron's feet all Princess Leia like, or just, y'know, Sam at Megatron's feet. Ahar.

oh god. Now I want to see Sam worshiping Megatron's feet, scrubbing them down with a - a toothbrush or something, having to risk his fingers to get between the plates of armor, brushing his fingers ohsocarefully over the rusted corners where the vile, itchy seawater has eaten through. He cleans scrapes of gaudy paint from the sharp treads, fingers trembling over flaking yellow. The Decepticons talk over his head like he isn't there, angry click-hiss-whirr as Megatron shifts and Sam clings hard enough to turn his knuckles white, biting back his scream (oh god don't scream) as he's lifted into the air and jerked back down again, taste of blood in his mouth. He scrambles aside, falling over himself to get out from between Megatron and Starscream's newest bid for power. He can't understand what they say but he knows the exact sequence of crackles and whirrs to say All hail Lord Megatron.

...I swear none of that was actually in my head until you started talking about Megatron's feet.

I feel like I'm 14 all over again, with a huge crush on Megatron and god, Optimus is so NOBLE and seriously, Starscream is such a sympathetic character to me! Today my brother turned to me and said "you know, you'd make a great Starscream." Trufax. Totally trufax.

I'm actually struggling badly with what to rec, considering I've only seen the Bay movies and the canon itself is incredibly mutable and the characters can have almost any personality... It boggles my mind. And also (sorry TF fandom) most of what I'm seeing is... blah. I feel like I'm reccing "good" stuff, but not "really great" stuff. Which is fine, but... I angst about it. XD Which is sad because I take so much delight in reading all of it! I just can't stop thinking about all of them. I know everyone likes Starscream, but omg he's such a sympathetic character to me, whenever I read about him and he gets all, you know, Starscream-y, I realize I'm snarling at my computer in a peculiar mix of rage and delight! Like, actually snarling! I try not to read about Starscream in public. XD And let's not start on Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, oh maaaan I am falling in love with them. And widdle Scorponok~ Awwww so cuuuute~

Speaking of "good stuff" and "really great stuff"... Great, breathtaking and life changing fics do exist, but they are really rare. Most of the fics we read and love are just "good stuff", which doesn't make us love them less. And some are even "not that good, but it makes me smile" stuff:) Even if you don't find a fic that awesome youself, you know that somebody who recced it likes it, and it makes the fic better. Kind of "reccing filosophy" as I understand it:)

And yes Starscream absolutely totally rules:) If you are into comics, I would recommend you to read "All Hail Megatron". It's based on G1 designs (extremely well drawn) and it looks like a great angsty fanfic slightly based on the G1 plot. And it has a mindblowing Starscream: he's clever, he's wicked and he's *spoiler-spoiler-spoiler*:)))

Very true! Thank you for the reassurance - I think sometimes I forget that enjoyment isn't quantifiable. If it's enjoyable, it's worth it. I think I definitely needed that reminder. :)

I almost got All Hail Megatron the other day! I grabbed the ROTF prequel Defiance instead! I may just go back and get it, I am most intrigued by your censored description. :3 I don't usually do comics, mostly for lack of money, but it is awfully pretty and I can't resist a good Starscream...
